Frequently asked questions
Do I need to book Guangdong Museum in advance?
Advance real-name timed reservation is mandatory for everyone including children; no walk-in registration. Book free via the official '广东省博物馆' WeChat mini-program or WeChat account, up to 7 days ahead (same-day to 7 days); new tickets are released daily at 22:00. Enter through the West Gate by self-scanning your ID card in your booked slot; the booking is valid only once. One order per account per 7 days, max 5 people per order, children 6 and under cannot be booked alone; no-shows trigger a 90-day booking ban. Foreigners, HK/Macau/Taiwan residents and overseas Chinese (non-二代身份证 holders) are told to phone 020-38046877 (or 020-38046886) to arrange booking — online passport booking is not described.
When is Guangdong Museum closed?
Closed on Mondays. Opening hours: Tue–Sun 09:00–17:00.
How much is a ticket to Guangdong Museum?
Entry is free. General admission is free but a ticket is still required ('免费不免票'). Special exhibitions are charged separately; per Bendibao, buying a special-exhibition ticket also lets you enter without a general reservation. One OTA page lists a ¥78 'from' price, which is a third-party booking product, not the museum's admission fee.
How long do I need at Guangdong Museum?
Plan about 2.5 hours.
