Moganshan 莫干山
A cool bamboo-covered mountain retreat where 1920s Shanghai tycoons built stone villas — now a hiking and boutique-hotel escape an hour from Hangzhou.

Private cars cannot drive up; park at the Yucun transfer centre and take the official shuttle, or hike the bamboo trail from Yucun village.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to book Moganshan in advance?
Advance online purchase is recommended and cheaper (roughly 3–5 days ahead in summer/holidays, when same-day on-site tickets often sell out). Tickets can also be bought on site at the gate price with no reservation required. One page states the 105 CNY adult combo ticket must be reserved one day ahead. Online booking is via 'official platforms' / OTA, but no page mentions foreign-passport booking; pages only list Chinese ID (身份证) as a carry item.
