Liyang in Lane 黎阳in巷
A restored riverside quarter of cafes, bars and restaurants, Huangshan's best evening stroll.

Liyang in Lane is a cultural and leisure district in Huangshan's Tunxi District, set where the Xin'an, Heng and Shuai rivers meet and facing Tunxi Old Street across the water. It grew from the old Liyang street grid, and its development kept a group of historic Huizhou houses while adding contemporary architectural touches. The result is a place where old lanes, white walls, dark tiles and carved details sit alongside shops, cafés and performance spaces.
The district is arranged around three main streets—Liyang Old Street, a Huizhou food street and a riverside bar and leisure street—linked by many smaller lanes. You can visit the Zhanchuan Bookstore in the Shi family compound, learn about local figures at the Huizhou Xiangxian Hall in the Jia family courtyard, or see lacquer art at Gan Erke's studio. The ancient stage hosts folk and modern performances through the year.
At night, light projections on old walls and mist over the water give the lanes a different character. Liyang in Lane is a national AAAA scenic area and has received awards for its design, night tourism and cultural tourism. It is a good place to combine Huizhou heritage, food and an evening by the rivers.
